Software Engineering Manager – Permanent – Fully Remote

Evolve IT is hiring for an exciting new opportunity for a Software Engineering Manager to work with a rapidly growing FinTech as a key player in the next stage of their expansion.  Our client is building the next generation of capabilities within the payment processing industry, and they are focused on building empowered teams that do great things.  Working closely with the leadership team you will continue to build and manage their world-class engineering team, attracting and developing engineering talent to solve various customer problems while encouraging innovation and creativity. You will take accountability for delivery across your teams in line with product roadmaps, maintaining high levels of engineering excellence, and ensuring bottlenecks / blockers to success are identified early and managed accordingly. You will be responsible for a group of c. 20 engineers; mentoring and coaching your teams as well as ensuring their growth plans are identified and encouraged, ideally you will still retain knowledge of the development toolsets being used by your team and will have worked in an Agile environment driving faster delivery across a wide product portfolio.

Responsibilities:

- Recruit and manage a team of highly talented engineers to deliver a wide range of projects

- Create full-stack development teams to focus on our customers

- Drive innovation across architecture, engineering, database, and DevOps teams

- Build a collaborative and trust-based culture where team members are empowered to deliver their best work in an environment that encourages advancement

- Continuously engage collaboratively across all teams, encouraging process improvement and new development techniques to achieve the best solutions

- Support Engineers in defining their career paths, allowing them to learn new technologies and being exposed to more challenging projects

- Coordinate the development of cross-team features between engineering teams, product managers, and technical operations teams.

Essential:

- Demonstrable experience in a senior software development management / director level role

- Experienced in leading cross-functional teams delivering solutions to complex problems, and allowing teams a high degree of autonomy

- Experience working in an environment that encourages creativity and experimentation to find the best solution

- Strong background in object-oriented programming, across languages such as Java, C#, C++

- Agile / Kanban / Lean experience

- Capable and comfortable working with high-level management and executives

- Strong project management experience
