Evolve – IT are delighted to bring to market an exciting new Senior Database Administrator role for one of our payment solutions clients. Within in the role you’ll work closely with the DBA Manager to help strengthen the DBA team as a centre of excellence. You will be the subject matter expert and be instrumental in driving forward improvements and building upon the existing foundations by maintaining the databases' performance, integrity, and security.
Our Global client are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and passionate MySQL engineer focused on database design, development, and administration. The individual will work closely with the Engineering and Technical Operations teams to build scalable and highly efficient implementations in their 24x7 environment
The primary roles for the successful candidate will be;
- Commit to achieving 5 9's uptime of all OLTP production databases.
- Build HA and DR systems using multi-site clusters and replication across geo-diverse data centers.
- Proactively monitor 24x7x365 production database environment to ensure uptime.
- Perform problem resolution and root cause analysis, along with recommending and implementing preventive techniques.
- Analyze SQL query plans and leverage diagnostic tools to identify performance bottlenecks and take appropriate corrective actions to improve database performance.
- Develop, maintain, and teach database standards and best practices
- Design and develop schema, indexes, SQL queries, and stored procedures.
- Work with Engineering teams and Technical Operations in reviewing and preparing database deployments.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications;
- A true MySQL expert that loves solving complex database problems
- An in-depth experience as a MySQL DBA in a high-volume, high-impact transactional environment.
- Expert knowledge of MySQL architecture – engine, query processing, query optimization, locking, etc.
- Considerable experience with replication and active-active environments is required.
- Experience automating the execution and notification of database-related processes and alerts.
- Strong knowledge of administering, designing, and deploying MySQL databases in AWS and GCP.
The successful candidate will be able to work from home 100% of the time, as well as receive up to £65,000 per annum and is entitled to a 6% bonus. In addition, our client offers UNLIMITED holidays and a £500 home office budget to spruce up your work area!
